Ronald McDonald House Service Project

Hello Family!
I love Fulton Missouri!!! I just love Missouri a lot better than Illinois! There are so many trees and its green here! And turtles that like to try and cross the road that we save and there are FIREFLIES!! there are fireflies in Illinois too. The other night me and Sister Nordstrom went out to catch fireflies and I caught one!!! They are actually easy to catch. Sister Nordstrom actually started her mission in England! The Birmingham mission though. But I am killing her off this transfer! She is from California and she is a lot of fun :) We are getting along.
The place that I live in is cool!! I live in an old high School building that they turned into an apartment building! It is a lot bigger apartment than Rantoul. I have my own bathroom, a walk in closet and my bed is super comfy! AND no ants!!!
Fulton Ward is amazing! The ward is really active in there callings and in missionary work. The Bishop may be crazy but it is a good crazy! the Ward has a baptism goal of 30 this year and the bishop has a dream of doubling the ward into two. We are at 10 baptisms so far this year. It is a lot different than the Rantoul Branch! I am going to be held more accountable here. The people here are great!! We have some good investigators here too.
One investigator is 24 and the missionaries here just started teaching him a little less than a month ago. He is on parole for a felony that he did. He also spent 3 years in prison. His cell mate was an excommunicated guy from the church. This guy talked to him a lot about how he misses the church and wishes that he could get back. That is where he first learned about the church. Our investigator also met with Senior missionaries in prison and learned a lot there. Time has passed since he was in prison then he finally decided that he wanted to meet with missionaries again and referred himself online. Our district calls him a "dry mormon" meaning he is living all the mormon standards but he is just not baptized yet. We were trying to get President Morgan get permission from the first presidency so that he could be baptized before his parole ended but President Morgan pretty much said that he might as well wait until October when his parole ends because it could take over 6 months to get permission from the First Presidency. So that is what we figured out this week! Crazzzy! He has a pretty interesting story. I am excited to teach him more! He finally came to sacrament meeting this week and he loved it!! He has been having a hard time to get time off work.
Fulton will be tough but I really think it will push me and help me become a better missionary :) I am excited!
Yesterday our Zone volunteered at the Ronald McDonald house for a golf tournament! We just sat at different parts of the course and told them what to do and collected donations. It was fun! We got tshirts and sunglasses and other goodies! So that is why I didn't write yesterday.
Tomorrow we are also getting a mini missionary! A youth from the stake is going to live with us for 5 days so that will be fun! We are going to have a mini transfer meeting with them tomorrow.
As for the History in Fulton, Winston Church Hill gave some famous speech here. And a part of the Berlin wall is here. I decided that I wanted to go to the Winston Church Hill museum for my birthday so I will tell you all about it next week.
I think I like being a missionary in the summer! Fulton will be a great place to spend my summer.
I Love you guys!!
Have a great week :)

Moving to Fulton Missouri

Hello!
Hope you had a happy birthday dad!! One year older and wiser too! :)
Thank you so much for figuring out my drivers license! Sorry it was a pain to do.

It has been really hot here but the difference with Canada and Illinois is it is humid here. It rains a LOT. We were walking around Rantoul and got caught in the rain. We were soaked by the time we got to our car and had to go home and change. We have had no tornadoes but we have had a lot of thunder storms and flash flood warnings.
We got transfer calls last saturday and they finna move me to Fulton MO. I will be in a Ward. I heard it is about 30 minutes away from Jefferson City which is the Capital of Missouri. It is in the Columbia stake. I am so excited! I hear there is a huge prison there and they are teaching someone in a mental facility! haha So if you thought Rantoul was sketchy... Just you wait for the stories I tell you in Fulton! haha I am just joking. Don't contact President Morgan please.
Great news!! I just heard that a mother and son that I taught in Webster groves got baptized!!!! I don't know if you remember me talking about Daniel and Carolyn... I found them tracting in the rain!! and taught them the majority of my time in Webster groves! He is the one who had Schizophrenia. I am SO happy!!! AND another lady named Lulu that I started teaching in Webster groves is finna get baptized this Saturday!! Crazy!!
We also picked up a new investigator this week! We helped a less active move and her neighbor was there helping too. we got talking to her and she was willing to have us come over and teach her the missionary discussions!
I am so excited for this next transfer! Good things are coming! I can tell!
Love you!! The church is true!

Storm rolling in

Hello family!
Were you able to work on getting my drivers license renewed at all? Did you get the information in the mail? I found out what notarizing it means haha I was planning on doing it this pday
Anyways!
We did a church tour with one of our investigators on tuesday. I feel like we have been dragging this lady to church but we finally were able to give her a tour of the building and have a lesson at the church. But She still didn't come to church on sunday :( She is one of those investigators that you only see the tip of the ice berg of their concerns. She is good with coming up with excuses. Just you wait. We will get her there.
We saw a lot of less actives this week. They like us. Some of them came to church too. haha I don't get it.
We are just having a hard time with getting our investigators progressing. I have been lucky because this is the first time on my mission that I have not had any progressing investigators. An investigator who is keeping their commitments and coming to church. Things will start happening though. just you wait.
We also had a crazy storm yesterday! Lots of rain and thunder and lightening! I took a video of it. Check out that storm rolling in!

Anyways hope you have a great week!
Tell mom I love her!
And tell Justin that he is the bomb.com!
I miss you guys!

Illinois Sky

Some pictures of our Illinois sky. No tornadoes yet though.
It is starting to look more green! The corn is growing!!

Heyyyy!
Mission conference yesterday was awesome!!! The zones got to take pictures with Elder Christofferson and I got to stand right behind his chair in the pictures! I could give him bunny ears if I wanted to! So that was cool. Then before the meeting, everyone got to go up and shake his hand! When he shook my hand he asked me where my home is and I told him Alberta Canada and he said "wow! What city?" And so I told him and he was just like "good." I don't think he knows where that is but he TALKED to me!!!! It was super cool! Elder Christofferson is actually a really funny guy too! He has a funny personality and He was cracking jokes left and right! He is very wise but he is also very humble. He gave us a warning and told us to not go home thinking that God owes you. He said that God doesn't owe us anything for the time we spent as missionaries, in fact we owe him even more for this great opportunity and the blessings we have received. He quoted king Benjamin in Mosiah 2 how he says that we are unprofitable servants. But it also helped me learn that we love what we serve. When you serve your children you grow a greater love for them or when you serve your spouse your love grows for them. I thought it was interesting Elder Christoffereson pointed out that If you serve the devil you will grow a love for evil and be trapped in sin and addictions. But when we serve God and others we will have a greater love for God. I will "eternally be indebted to my Heavenly Father" but it is because of the great love that our Father has for us. He is the one who gives us life and is continually raining blessings on us. I will always remember that I love who I serve. So have faith and serve God! :)I am sure you guys have heard Elder L. Tom Perry passed away. So sad :( Elder Christofferson talked about how awesome of a guy he was and said it was cancer that finally killed him. Said he served 100% till the very end.
I got my winnings from our bet from the Zone leaders. Only I didnt ask for a chocolate bar, I asked for skittles :) I tried to share with them but they wouldn't take any haha!
We had another great week with exchanges and mission conference. I went to Springfield, the Illinois capital, again! I really want to go to the Abraham Lincoln museum there someday. Really cool city. We got another new investigator named Brunilda. She seems really interested. She was just someone we stopped and talked to on the street. That is why it is important to talk to everyone!! You never know who could be your next baptism!! :)
Love you guys! Have a great week!
